#TBTUNC CAMPAIGN

Public Relations Committee Leader

As a part of JOMC 490 or New Media Technology and its Impact on the Future of Advertising, Marketing and PR, my class launched a new media campaign utilizing social media and flash events on campus to create a viral brand, all leading up to our final event benefitting Camp Kesem North Carolina. The graphics were created by graphic design students in the class and the event, hosted by R&R Grill and featuring DJ Epz and local band Star Studies was planned and executed by a student team.

  • Led a team of 8 people to brainstorm and execute flash events, social media strategies and contests to increase engagement

  • Created and maintained a #tbtunc Facebook page (867 likes), Twitter account (543 followers) and Instagram account  (126 followers)

  • Hosted a weekly #triviatuesday Twitter contest to win gift cards or a golden ticket to our final event

  •  Got local and UNC-related celebrities to interact with our Twitter account, including former chancellor Holden Thorp, UNC basketball players Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, Miss UNC Kirsten Ballard, UNC Student Body President Christy Lambden, UNC Memes, Blue & White Magazine and Her Campus

  • Created four throwback themed 8tracks playlists (~4,000 plays)

  • Published a Buzzfeed article "13 Reasons Why UNC is the Perfect Place to Throw Back" (1,400 likes, 6,500 views)

  • Filmed and uploaded to YouTube "Bring Childhood Back," a video featuring the UNC Clef Hangers and Camp Kesem campers (365 views)

  • Secured press coverage from the Daily Tar Heel, Resound Magazine, Chapel Hill News and Durham News

  • Solicited prizes such as a signed Roy Williams basketball, signed Larry Fedora football, $100 ASOS gift card, 4 $50 Bevello gift cards and signed James Taylor CDs

  • Hosted final event "Baby Got Throwback Bash" with over 500 people in attendance
