Children's Marketing Intern

As a children's marketing intern at HarperCollins, I worked with the children's marketing team to brainstorm for and execute campaigns for new picture books, children's books and young adult books through research, writing copy for social media posts, creating editorial calendars, fulfilling mailings and writing back ads.

 

  • Attended children's marketing department update meetings and helped brainstorm for campaigns for the summer 2015 season

  • Wrote copy for Fancy Nancy Facebook page and created 6-month editorial calendar, along with writing copy for Planet Tad Facebook and Tumblr accounts

  • Fulfilled mailings for Goodreads giveaways, Amazon Vine reviewers and other ARC giveaways

  • Wrote back ads for sequels of multiple children's books

  • Attended lunch & learns and received an overview of different departments of the company through the publishing process of The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

CAPSTRAT, Raleigh, NC

Client Services Intern

As a client services intern at Capstrat, I assisted the agency through research for new business pitches and campaigns for existing clients, creating media and social media lists, drafting press releases and blog posts, and planning and hosting the 8th Annual Capstrat Student Networking night.

 

  • Conducted research and analytical work for professional, healthcare, energy, public affairs and technology clients like Duke Energy, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Deloitte, Quintiles, UNC Health Care and Lenovo

  • Compiled media and social media lists of influencers for various campaigns for Deloitte and UNC Health Care

  • Along with a team of five interns, planned and hosted the 8th Annual Capstrat Student Networking Night, an event with panels about career search questions college students have and networking opportunities. Over 100 students from universities across North Carolina attended the event, which had the theme "What's Your Story?"

MCKINNEY, Durham, NC

Agency Communications Intern

As an agency communications intern for McKinney, I helped to promote the agency through social media, assisting with events and pitching stories to local media.

 

  • Volunteered at the 2013 Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands, an event that allowed local businesses to form bands and compete while raising money for the East Durham Children's Initiative

  • Used Cision to compile all press mentions and create media contact lists

  • Attended brainstorming meetings and drafted promotional tweets for "Who's Haunting McKinney," a nationally-covered event designed to explore the history of the office space McKinney occupies

  • Assisted to promote the launch of ad campaigns such as Nationwide "Baby," and Urban Ministries of Durham "Names for Change"

  • Helped launch Mizuno USA "Super/Natural" by updating website, uploading ad to YouTube and submitting the campaign to trade publications and awards

TIME WARNER CABLE, New York, NY

Social Media Marketing Intern

​

As a social media marketing intern for Time Warner Cable, I sat in on corporate meetings and assisted with promotional partnerships, along with writing a social media best practices guide for the company and assisting with the oversight of regional Twitter accounts.

 

  • Conducted research on competitors' social media methods over a period of 6 weeks and created charts to interpret the data for implementation

  • Created company-wide social media best practices guide for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine and YouTube

  • Coordinated with regional Twitter handle managers to promote content specific to that region

  • Assisted with promotional events hosted by Time Warner Cable such as the 2013 MLB All-Star Week Launch 

  • Participated in an agency visit day, meeting with three agencies who do branding and public relations work for Time Warner Cable

MONKEES OF CHAPEL HILL, Chapel Hill, NC

Social Media Intern

​

As the first ever social media intern for Monkees of Chapel Hill, I helped create a strategy for promoting the store on social media and growing the existing follower base on social networks. I ran all social media accounts and kept inventory on the website and on Facebook albums up to date.

 

  • Brainstormed posting theme ideas and created a posting calendar for Facebook and Twitter

  • Wrote and scheduled daily tweets and Facebook posts on Hootsuite

  • Photographed new merchandise and uploaded photos to Facebook for customers to see

  • Posted a photo of new or sale merchandise on Instagram on a daily basis

  • Kept inventory on monkeesofchapelhill.com up to date

  • Increased overall likes and follower count of Monkees of Chapel Hill by 28%
